First Baptist Church offers a place for people of all age groups to be involved in our Music Ministry, for people from three years old through senior adults. |
| OUR MESSAGE |
Our message is Christocentric--focusing on and being permeated by the message of Jesus Christ's birth, life, sacrifice on the cross, burial, resurrection from the dead, and reign as King of Kings forever. |
OUR SANCTUARY CHOIR is made up of adults from college age and above, and leads our congregation in worship each week. Throughout the year, the choir leads the congregation in several special worship experiences in the Spring, focus on gospel music and patriotic celebrations in the Summer, and a tribute to our veterans in the fall around Veterans Day. The Christmas Celebration is always a special time at First Baptist, and our Sanctuary Choir plays a very important part as we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The Sanctuary Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings.
THE JUBALHEIRS, our senior adult choir, meets for rehearsal every Monday morning from September through May. God has used our senior adults in a mighty way at FBC, and this choir offers this age group a wonderful opportunity to lead the congregation in praise and worship. The Jubalheirs sing occasionally during a morning or evening worship service and present special programs at Christmas and in the spring of each year. This choir provides not only a place of service but also wonderful fellowship for our senior adults.
OUR YOUTH CHOIR is always filled with energy and excitement. This exciting group meets on Sunday afternoons for rehearsal, and sings throughout the year for morning and evening worship services as well as sharing in special services at Christmas and on Youth Sunday each spring. This group participates each year in the Alabama Baptist Youth Choir Retreat in Gulf Shores at the beginning of spring break. They also carry out part of FBC's mission emphasis by traveling across the United States in the summers to bring the Gospel of the Kingdom to inner cities, multi-family housing projects, and other areas of need.
YOUNG MUSICIANS CHOIR is made up of children in the third, fourth, and fifth grades, and rehearses on Wednesday evenings at 6:15 P.M. This choir learns and shares two major musical presentations each year, at Christmas and in the Spring. They grow spiritual and grow the congregation spiritually as they share the love of Jesus through their presentations!
MUSIC MAKERS CHOIR is made up of boys and girls in the first and second grades. They rehearse on Wednesdays at 6:15 P.M., and share special presentations each year at Christmas and in the spring. In addition to singing, the Music Makers along with all our children's choirs develop their musical skills through large and small group activities.
"SON"SHINE SINGERS CHOIR is for kindergarten age boys and girls. They participate in small and large group activities that help them begin to shape their musical skills as they learn about Jesus and His wonderful love for us. The "Son"Shine Singers participate in our Children's Choir's Christmas and Spring Celebrations each year. They are a delightful group who always have a great time when they gather for music and fun!
MELODY MAKERS CHOIR is for four year old boys and girls, and is always a fun group to be a part of! Through group activities, games, and singing, they begin to learn about music and how they can use it to show their love for God! The Melody Makers sing each year at our Children's Choirs Christmas and Spring Celebrations.
TINY TUNES CHOIR is where we start our Children's love for music with this wonderful choir for three year olds! A solid foundation is laid in this choir to help children enjoy music and begin to learn some basic skills. This choir, as all our children's choirs, shares the love of Jesus with the children who attend each Wednesday evening. The Tiny Tunes Choir participates each year at Christmas and in the spring as our children's Choirs lead us in moments of celebration and worship! Tiny Tunes Choir is a happy... energetic... fun group to be a part of!
YOUTH HANDBELL CHOIR . . . . . Our Youth Handbell Choir rehearses on Monday afternoons at 3:15 P.M. The youth involved develop their musical skills as they learn to ring our three octave set of choir chimes and four octave set of handballs.
ADULT HANDBELL CHOIR . . . . . This group of skilled ringers rehearses weekly on Wednesday evenings. Working with our four octave set of handballs, they share wonderful handbell arrangements with our congregation during our Morning Worship Services through the year as well as during special services during the Christmas season.
MEN'S QUARTET . . . . . The FBC Men's Quartet enjoys singing wonderful southern gospel as well as more contemporary arrangements as they lift their voices in praise unto God! The quartet sings regulating throughout the year at our worship services as well as at special events such as our church picnic and our Hanging of the Greens Service that kicks off the Christmas season.
LADIES ENSEMBLE . . . . . This ensembles sings throughout the year during our worship services as well as at the Hanging of the Greens Service at Christmas, as well as reaching out beyond the wall of our church to minster at the Limestone Correctional Facility. This talented and special group enjoys singing a variety of styles of music.
PRAISE TEAM . . . . . When needed for worship or special presentations, we blend the voices of selected women and men together in a small group or praise team to lead our congregation in worship. In addition to singing for our morning worship services as needed, the Praise Teams have participated along with our Sanctuary Choir in special presentations such as "God With Us', "Sacrifice of Praise', "God for Us" and our Christmas Celebrations!
